Question Trying to put a 84 2.8L into a 92 3.1L (engine wiring?)

Everything is going accoring to plan but as I'm looking at the wiring in the engine of my 1992 Camaro RS 3.1L I see that I can try and leave the engine wiring in my purple 92 3.1L strip the 84 2.8L of all the pulleys, wires, sensors, etc. and put all the sensors, pulleys, wires, etc off the 3.1 onto the 2.8 Will this work? Don't know much about cars just a 20 year old kid trying to fix his camaro.

welcome to team camar kyle!! i think some of the parts will interchange but not all of the sensors and pulley's can be swapped...i think you have too look at each individual part to see if they will interchange!! i dont think the computer will pick up on all the readings because of the different parameters that are set for each??let me do some digging for you! are the transmisions the same??

Dumb question..is the 84 f.i or does it have a carb???..BELLHOUSINGS ARE THE SAME!!..FROM WHAT I READ YOU CAN SWAP THE VALVE COVERS AND THE INTAKE FROM THE 3.1 AND PUT ON THE 2.8L..AND THE BELLHOUSINGS ARE THE SAME AND THE SENSORS WILL SCREW IN TOO!!.IM SURE YOU MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE FABRICATING TO DO BUT IT CAN BE DONE!! USUALLY ITS THE OTHER WAY AROUND..GOING FROM A 2.8L TO A 3.1L..THE 2.8L MIGHT BE ON THE DOG SIDE THOUGH??

There both F.I. The 2.8 intake has a weird lookin thing on the left side of the intake port which has a sensor on it. So I can take the intake off my 3.1 along with the wiring harness which doesn't have that sensor and attach them to the 2.8?...Also on my 3.1 the hot water control valve is not in the same place as the 2.8 and doesnt have a water pump hose going to it like the 3.1 does???
