Exhaust Manifold Stove Mounts

Aloha All, I have stock Exhaust Manifolds on my 69 Camaro 350hp motor now, I'm installing a Cowl Hood and will not be using the Stove Shield set up on the passenger side exhaust manifold and plan on removing it from the manifold, I'm thinking about grinding down the stove shield mounting points and making it look cleaner and smoother, what do you think? I don't want to purchase new manifolds or have time to go to the salvage yard to look for a set with out the mounting points for the shield and smog tube holes. Thank you for any comments.
