Oil change frequency

If expense is not a issue, how often do you guys change your oil and filter, not the 4wd or the shopping trolley I mean the pride and joy

Re: Oil change frequency

In the daily driver, when the gauge reads "0"
In the camaro, it's kind of like when you can tell if someone messes with the thermostat in the house... 2,000miles? Just bought $50 worth of mobil1 synthetic even with a discount, so this will prob last over 3k and a year.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

Re: Oil change frequency

In a daily driver do it by intervals. In a hot rod, do it by the dipstick. If it starts to get dark, change it.

Re: Oil change frequency

7,500 thereabouts for the 04 chevs and once a year for the Camaro (but there is very old oil in the Camaro now because it has been in the shop for a long time. Gotta change the trans and rad first, then change the oil before I fire it up again (in the spring )

Re: Oil change frequency

4,000 to 5,000 miles for the daily drivers. The owner's manuals say go longer, the oil change companies (who want your money) say ~ 3,000 miles.

Once a year for the Camaro, which translates to less than 1,000 miles between changes.

I still change my own oil on all the vehicles.

Re: Oil change frequency

Once a year with Amsoil 100% syn and Amsoil's nano-fiber, special oil filter. This is my procedure with all my cars, Tahoe, Maxima, 69 Camaro too. 35 years using this oil, never a problem.

Re: Oil change frequency

My Camaro only sees 2000-2500 miles per year right now. I change it once a year, but always get it hot by driving when I start it up. I don't want a crankcase full of condensation.
