Where did you mount your MSD box?

I have ordered a MSD 6AL box and was curious of some of the places I can hide it, I have a smooth firewall so I want to keep it off there, Where are some of the other places it can safely go that has reasonable access, thanks.

I had mine on the firewall but have seen them mounted as above, in the jockey box and on the inner fenderwell.

Sorry, for what is probably a dumb question, but what's a "jockey box"?

Re: Where did you mount your MSD box?

Just for all you guys who mount it on the firewall. Here is the setup I did.As you can see,I made a little heat shield under the box for added protection from the headers wich can radiate a lot of heat when the car is sitting when the engine is first shut off.I also have my main battery junction right underneath it which is where the main power for the box comes from.If you look at my coil wire you can see that I moved the coil into the cowl box where the wipers normall go.If you hang the coil from the top of the box it wont get wet or get in the way of the wipers, but you would need to drill a hole in the firwall{and seal between the 2 layers of firewall.the coil and the box stay plenty cool which is one less thing I have to worry about. Most racers put the box on the floor in the passenger side interior, but I just wanted to keep it under the hood.On a car with fendewells, any area in front of or behind the wheel wells is a good choice for hiding the box.Good luck.

Re: Where did you mount your MSD box?

I mounted mine right behind the drivers side headlight on the radiator support, out of the way and hardly noticable....

Re: Where did you mount your MSD box?

I have mine mounted under the passenger side dash on an aluminum plate. I also have the coil and extra fuse blocked mounted on the plate also.

For you guys that are going to say dont mount your coil on its side,, it has been like that for 15 years with no problems. Knock on wood.

I hung mine from the ash tray receptacle. It's invisible and stays clean.

Re: Where did you mount your MSD box?

As a guy who's had an MSD box die when mounted above the heater box, (OK, yeah, L88's will do that) it's been mounted in front of the radiator support for about 20 years. It gets lots of cool air. But, then again, ceramic headers are so cooooool, it's like the engine isn't even on. Maybe I'll find a reason to move it back. After all, mine's a RS. Na.

I mounted mine under the pass seat with my timming control on a plate sandwitched between the seat and the floor ran the wires under the console and nobody knows. I can set in the drivers seat reach under and pull the chip out . Installed this way for 5 years with no problems .
