Oil Recommendation

Just wondering what you guys think.

What do you guys recommend for engine oil in a 350 with flat tappet cam in a motor that was rebuilt 18 years ago. This motor has been running great for 4 years with me using Penzoil 10 W40 and ZDDP. Every other oil change I throw a can of "Engine Restorer" oil additive in there. With all the new product out there just wondering if there is something better. What would you do different?

Re: Oil Recommendation

I use lucas oil stabilizer in everything I own, drive 50K miles per year and use in old and new engines of all sorts, never had any problems.

Re: Oil Recommendation

Just wondering what the "oil Restorer " is. If its something like Marvel oil, guess its ok.
The Penn 10-40 never caused me any issues. The zddp is a good thing today as most off the shelf oils don't have it. Are you adding this in? Don't see how it can hurt that flat tappet cam.

Re: Oil Recommendation

I started using Brad Penn HP last year in my 302. I mostly stopped oil consumption and runs great. If you can't find it locally they will ship it to you. I spoke with a rep in Watkins Glenn, they know oil!

Dont know whay you would want to mess with something that has been working good for four years ??

Personally I would not use the restore, its not needed in a properly built and maintained engine.
