Of course, HEI's did not come out until 1975. Why should it fit ? Use a small bodied HEI or a points distributor converted to an electronic. (Pertronix) Option 2 is to dent the firewall.

69 Camaro -originally a LM1 car. 327, Edelbrock E-streets, hooker, DUI performance distributors, ultradyne cam, stewart, TRW etc. Vintage Air, AGR steering, Corbeau GTSII seats, 700R4 transmission, 12-bolt w/Eaton 4.11:1

Re: HEI Clearance on a BB

If you have good body mounts and trans mount it should clear, at least on a sbc, but given the different frame mounts of a bbc, I don't see why it wouldn't fit with new body and trans mounts.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

Re: HEI Clearance on a BB

I have a 67 coupe with 69 BB frame mounts and I initially had a DUI HEI in it. In my car I had at least 1/2 inch clearance between the full size HEI and the firewall. If you can find someone that has an HEI laying around, try it and see if it fits.

I have 1969 RS/SS Big Block and Small Block Verts and no problems plenty of room for HEI.

I guess a picture is worth a thousand words. This is an HEI in a 68 I had. Original BB engine frame mounts.

Re: HEI Clearance on a BB

Thanks again. I thought I would be OK. Ricks 1st states I would have to dent the firewall.
