Question Small base circle cam

I have recently purchased a new Crower 00903 small base circle cam (218*/226* .461/.468 112lsa) from an individual who decided to run a
different cam in his stroker engine.

My plan is to install this new cam in a new GM Goodwrench crate engine along with a set of Aluminum L98 Corvette heads that have some mild bowl work done to them.

My question is: will I have to do anything different on pushrod length since this is a small base circle cam?

Your input is appreciated.

Re: Small base circle cam

I think you need lifters that are longer for a small base circle, because std. lifters would set to low in lifter bore to line up with oil passage

Re: Small base circle cam

Summit usually charges $137.95 for this cam. I picked up this new cam for $65.00 to my door. Sounds like I need to get in touch with the Crower tech line and see what lifters and pushrods they recommend.

Thanks all.

Re: Small base circle cam

I went with a small base circle cam and used my standard comp hyd rollers with it. While motor was apart I mocked cam and lifters up, looking thru the cam oil galley holes to make sure the lifter oil grove was lined up properly and it was.

When I got to the push rods, I obtained a push rod length checker to make sure the rocker arm geometry was correct, it was not. I did go to the longer push rods to correct this, using a small base circle cam. Lifters actually set lower than stock in the lifter bore.
