Re: Which head bolts need sealant?
All 17 of them if a Gen I block. I use Permatex A200 Sealer. Brush it onto the bolt threads and thread it in. Clean bolt hole with lacquer thinner or BraKleen®. Drop of oil under the bolthead for a better torque.
If iron head, bring engine to operating temp, retorque bolts.
If alum, bring engine up to operating temp, let cool overnight, retorque bolts.
