502 finally in

Finally got my motor placed inů working to terminate my cables, wires and hoses. Got a 200 r4 bolted up to it (BTO) and ordered headers today. Trying to figure out what to do with throttle linkage. Looks like my stock arm is going to hit the valve cover and it seems a bit short. I do not want to use a cable system unless good reason. Also having a tough time figuring out how to run -10 fuel feed. I have a great flaring tool but it only goes up to 1/2inů.

Re: 502 finally in

Good job. Looks killer and quite the exciting time . Before you get her all plumbed in are you sure you can get the headers in without lifting the engine ? I know I won't .

Bad a$$ thats for sure... I think you may have to run a full throttle cable. Check out this link for fuel lines http://www.getdiscbrakes.com/

Re: 502 finally in

I am prepared to lift the motor a bit for header install. I ordered Lemons' race headers on Monday and hoping that I will be able to slip them in a few cylinders at a time.

I picked up the motor about 2 years ago and have been busy transiting jobs and homes. I have just about rewired everything under the hood and cabin. This started as a 67 327 and I had to do a lot of small block to big block stuff...

My long pole in the tent remains to be fuel system. I did a lot of research in picking my fuel system and really cannot figure out how to plum -10 fuel feed. I am running an A1000 in-tank pump in a "Rick's Tank". The issue is flaring and bending the -10 feed. I have a mastercool flaring tool that I used for all my brake lines but it only goes up to 1/2 inch. I have always heard that if I use braded line from tank to engine, I will smell fuel. I really need some input here in order to move forward. My goal is to start motor by 1 May.

Re: 502 finally in

Re: 502 finally in

I used #10 from the tank to the filter then #10 from the filter to the pump. Then #8 from the pump to my fuel pressure regulator. This is on a 502 w/8-71 blower feeding 2 -750 carbs. 1/2" or #8 is plenty line to feed your motor. I have a small piece of #8 braided line from the pump to my hard line. That is on both ends of the hard line. You can use 1/2" aluminum line and use the flare tool you have. They sell flare nuts and inserts for the 1/2" line.
