I just purchased a new 8 inch jegs harmonic balancer for my stock 69 z28 engine. I am really worried how hard it is going on using a mac tool installer. I have it on now about half way and it stripped the long bolt that runs inside the tool. I dont want to take the chance of stripping the crank threads. Any ideas of what might be wrong or any tricks I can use to get it the rest of the way on without damaging anything?
Haul the engine and balancer to your local builder. Have him hone the balancer for a fit. That's a common need for ATI's and other higher-end stuff, they're intentionally small out of the box and need to be fitted to the crank.
