New ZL-1

I contracted Jason Pettis and Pettis Performance to build me a ZL-1 489. It's the new block made with the old tooling. Really a pretty piece. Anyway, my goad was to build an engine capable of street, autocross, and road racing all at the same time. Not the easiest way to play the game. I thought I'd share the build with you guys since we are all Camaro nuts.

We used a Callies crank, Manley H beams, Srp forged pistons, comp custom solid roller, Isky Red Zones, and a Milodon road race pan. I'll start off with some photos of the block, then extensive maching Jason did, then the results. Enjoy.

667 HP. I think the timing is off... Maybe rejet that carb up a few. Just kidding. It looks great and more HP and tourqe is directly proportional to the smile from the pressing the gas. It looks great, thanks for the pics and letting me and I am sure many others, be very envious...

Outstanding. That is very impressive.
I am having a 427 Small Block built in the near future. The photos are giving me the bug to have it built sooner rather than later.

Re: New ZL-1

Thanks guys I'm going to beat the living snot out of this thing. It's a rubber bypass hose with a 45 on the intake and straight fitting in the pump. I used Gates clamps that are cut in half and then you use a heat gun to shrink them. Pretty trick.

the clamps are trick. Now you just need to get some brake cleaner and a cloth and wipe the green lettering off............. Looks fantastic Todd.
