is this cylinder cracked? can someone post pictures of a SJ sbc?

i made this thread before, but i didnt want to bring it back from the dead because it kinda went off topic

anyway, can anyone take some pictures of the bottom of their block, SBC, pref. a SJ, i need pictures with no crank so you can see the bottom of the bores

the reason i ask is because a few years ago when i took my 327 block out of the car i noticed a few "chunks" taken out of the bottom of the bore, but im not sure if it is normal or not.

here are some pictures:

you can see what im talking about on the right side of the cylinder

this is cylinder number eight, it looks pretty messed up, im not home right now, so i cant check if any other cylinders are like this, but i dont think they are

on this pic you can see it at the bottom of the cam

Is it possible to tell from these pictures? When i get home i can take new ones, but for now, its all i have.

if it is damaged, should i be worried about building the block? Its not every day that you can find a sj sbc with a stock bore that doesnt need to be bored out, but i would like to rev this little engine as much as possible

thanks for any comments

From some that I have seen that looks normal, should probably be cleaned up on a rebuild.

thanks, so do you think it is just a casting error on the block?

can i just get a die grinder and just drind it down?

I dont think it would at all affect the engine, but i just wanted to make sure that is normal, and not a block that had a rod or cam break and smash bits of the engine

The cylinders actually look pretty good to me, can still see the cross hatching.
It's appears that the dog legs that hang down from the bores are missing, unless pre '68 blocks didn't have them...
