Carb help needed

I'm working on a customers 85 Silverado. I think it has some kind of computer in it. I took out the old engine and installed a new one. Well he said he wanted all of the smog stuff gone so I removed everything I thought that could be thrown away. It had a million dry rotted vacuum lines so I snatched them out.

It runs great 1/4 to full throttle. At idle it spudders and runs rough. There is a electric plug on top of the quadrajet carb that I think is the problem. I can disconnect it and nothing changes. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Carb help needed

Ok guys, I went outside this morn and cranked it up for the first time today and it ran like a sewing machine. I drove it down the road to let it get up to temp and it still ran great. Glad it fixed itself! Any ideas what it was?

The carburetor and distributor are computer controlled. If you really want it to be non-computer, both must be changed to the older style. You will need a vacuum advance distributor and no electrics on the carburetor. (An electric choke is OK)
