Belt Routing

This might be a silly question but here goes. 69 small block. Belt routing ( passenger side ) for alt goes from crank to water pump to alt. Normal routing for power steering (drivers side ) goes crank to power steering . I have double pullys on the water pump. It works much better and have better clearance if I route the power steering from the crank to water pump and steering unit. This puts two belts on the water pump going to different units. It seems ok because the crank will turn them at the same speed. Will this work OK or am I doing something wrong.

Re: Belt Routing

I dont recommend the PS belt from WP. you have to really get the PS belt tight for it not to slip. That will put a lot of un-equal pressure on the WP bearing and may cause early failure. my .02

Re: Belt Routing

I have been looking at serveral 1968 models on ebay. There are quite a few that route the belts where they both go around the crank and the water pump with a unit on each side.
