What plug to use when changing from points to HEI?????

I have a 72 Camaro with a 1970 350 stock long block, 2 barrel, 9-1 compresion, with points. I'm switching to a HEI set up. I putting on an alum. mainifold & holley 600. I was told that there is a difference in spark tempeture. Therefore the plugs used with the points would be wrong with the HEI ignition. Can someone tell me what type of plug to use, "ie 1974 350 style plug" and if so, would you know the plug part number. In addition, would I have to change the timing and if so, what do you recommend.
Thank you to all who reply! John

If you have a Davis Unified Distributor, gap them at 50 or 55.

Re: What plug to use when changing from points to HEI?????

you can do as sparky says above and go stock plugs..
But to establish which is the correct plugs, go a heat range colder, then after a couple 100 miles running pull and read them.
you are lookiung at the center electode at the tip about 1/2 to 1mm down from the top there should a be bluing of the steel from the heat.
Plug heats are not determined by oiling up or not....oiling up and similar symtoms are for other faults in the engine...wear timing mixtures, scavenging etc
Going hotter plugs in these cases ais 'patching; or compensating for these fault.

And before changing the Dizzy, map the curve and the VA specs in the pionts, then dupilcate in the HEI.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative
