Fan for 408 build

Finishing up my build and thinking about replacing my fan - motor won't run over 6500 ever, should stop pulling at 5500-6000 rpm - I have a flex fan now but thinking of putting on a clutch fan - flex-a-lite makes quite a few options for fans - what do you guys recommend / think?

Doug, do you have a fan clutch on your fan? If so is it thermal?

No... it was direct drive. Clutch went out years ago and I did away with.

Re: Fan for 408 build

I've got the Flex-a-Lite 5718 (six blade 18") and Hayden 2705 standard thermal clutch. Works fine for me on a 355. I'll be using it on the new 400 in a few weeks. The combo replaced a mechanical fan I was running.

Re: Fan for 408 build

Curious why you chose the Hayden clutch instead of the Felx-a-lite clutch? I see the price is less for the Hayden, any other reason?

I'd just heard from a few different places that Hayden made a good clutch. No first hand knowledge though. They fit together correctly fine though.

I ordered that set up from Summit this morning - should be here Wednesday - but won't put it on until it's done with the dyno run in and a couple pulls which is hopefully late this week.
