Timing?

Dumb question: without having a timing light if you want to add just a couple degrees of advance to timing, do I turn the distributor clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Thanks guys,

Greg

Re: Timing?

Rotor turns clockwise, dist body needs to turn counter-clockwise to advance timing, at least on a Chevrolet engine.

To advance initial timing, rotate dist body opposite of rotor rotation on any engine.

No such thing as a dumb question m8, but setting timong by eye or messing around with it without a timing light is dumb....very dumb

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative

Re: Timing?

if the engine speeds up its advancing, if it slows down its retarding, a few degrees will make a difference in idle speed i have found...
