Re: pretronixs

That's wild. I don't know the answer. I'm not sure if my Pertronix improved my radio reception but a couple questions come to mind.

-Where did you power the pertronix from?
-Did you do anything, move anything, bonk anything, that could have resulted in an improved ground for the radio or antenna?
-Did you raise the antenna higher than before?

Re: Pretronix

I know on the corvettes of the day the distributor was shrouded by metal because it was so close to the radio and would cause interference, maybe this is the deal?

Re: Pretronix

That's crazy!
I need to get a new AM antenna so I can try it out with my Pertronix this summer and hopefully I can pick up some channels. I'll post my request in the classifieds.

Re: Pertronix

The reason they wanted you to run a wire from the fuse bank is probably because the coil needs a full 12volts, unlike the factory wire which has a ballast resistor built in, this wire will get less voltage, spark won't be near as hot or efficient which will result in poorer performance and economy.

where would the ballast resistor be located in the wire close to fuses or coil?

Re: Pertronix

It's built into the wire that goes to the coil on the original wiring harness wire.

Re: Pertronix

Weird? I put a Pertronix setup in my Camaro and no new stations for me! It did eliminate the noise I got in my radio though!
