Re: SBC Heads

I may be wrong, but I thought 307's had 1.72 intakes and 350's had 1.94or larger intake valves. How could these heads be used on both engines?

In either case, sounds like not worth putting the money into. I'm seeing double hump heads for sale in good shape around $300.

they are either 69 or 75cc depending on year, 1.72/1.50 valves.... not really that great from the looks of it. If you have access to camel humps for cheap I would maybe go for that. Although that is what I am doing, and the machining etc is costing a touch more than I had anticipated due to some upgrades I didn't plan!

The numbers you gave are casting numbers. The casting may be used for different valve sizes and/or different chamber sizes.

The double hump heads do not breath very well when used with today's cams. It is usually better to look at aftermarket heads than to stick money into heads that will disappoint you.

Re: SBC Heads

Dart II iron heads come cheap and will out perform any stock heads, they are a very worthy investment IMO.

Re: SBC Heads

I've seen a set of sportsman 2's untouched go in the 11's with a comp 286H-10 and 10.5:1 comp. Seem like a good set for the cash.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

There is something wrong with these photos in the link. The chamber on the left shows 1.94 sized intake valve seats but 1.94's are not mentioned in the data. Look at the distance between the valve seats. Either the photo is wrong or the data is.
