Custom K&N filter

I have been speaking with a few techs from K&N about building a custom filter.
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a conical filter?
16" base
3-3.5 tall
14" top.
I have ordered a SV1 from Prosystems and need to design a dominator style set up that will fit inside my cowl hood.
If there is any interest they may be willing to build it.
Interested in any feedback good or bad!

Re: Custom K&N filter

I finally got my custom built filter from K&N. I was really surprised how easy it was to deal with them. I figured I was wasting my time and theirs for a "one off" filter. For under a hundred bucks I had my own custom design delivered to my door. 16inch base, 3 inches tall and 14 inch top.
It fits the dominator drop base perfectly and sneaks up inside my cowl hood nicely.
Hopefully the weather is friendly and I can road test my SV1 carb tomorrow!

Re: Custom K&N filter

Did you go with the 3 inch or the 3.5 inch filter and what intake are you running. Im building a 582 and want to run a super victor with the SV1 carb. Did they give you a part number and how long did it take to get your cleaner. Thanks, Bobby

Re: Custom K&N filter

I had a 3 inch built. Now that it is on a 3 1/2 would have just fit. I am running an airgap intake. It probably took 4-5 weeks to get. There is no part number. I can give you the contact info if you like.

Re: Custom K&N filter

Trackman, where did you get the bottom drop flange and how much is the drop? Thanks for all your help. I to was going to get the SV1, how long did it take to get and have you driven the car with it on, what do you think. Thanks, Bobby

Re: Custom K&N filter

I got a 1 1/4 K&N 16 inch drop base. SV1 took a few weeks to get. I have it on the car. I have only had a few hours to work on tuning so far. I have a long ways to go to get to where I had my Ultra Holley. Patrick has been quick to respond with tuning help but we are far from having it dialed in.It might be to big for my 496. It is not as crisp at low rpm. I think it does pull better in high rpm. But to be honest ,I need to get it dialed in before I can comment on streetability.
