Q-Jet Idle Mixture Adjustment

When adjusting my idle mixture should I leave my Advance Canister hooked up to manifold vacuum or should it be disconnected?

1969 Camaro SS
350/300 M20

Leave it connected.

Set the mixture screws for highest rpm at idle, then readjust the curb idle. Some use a vacuum gauge to set the mixture screws. Set them to the highest Hg reading.

Either way, you'll end up with the same setting.

Thanks. I was trying to adjust it yesterday and could not get the idle mixture screws to affect vacuum or RPM, any ideas? Had the curb idle set at 700 RPM.

Will the engine die if you lower the curb idle too much or does it keep running? (Trying to determine if she's idling on the circuit or if fuel is being pulled via the transition slots).

Do this. Gently set both mixture screws all the way in. Start it up then idle it down (curb idle) until she almost dies. Then back out the mixture screws until you get a nice smooth idle. A vacuum gauge is helpful (look for the highest reading).
