MSD ignition question

I have a 69 SS with the original 350, mild cam, headers, and a Holley 600. I just picked up an MSD 8360 ready to run distributor and a blaster coil. I also got a screaming deal on a new 6AL box. The question is, should I use all three components, or is it overkill for this engine. Should I just run the distributor alone?

Re: MSD ignition question

If it's a new 8360 you won't really gain anything installing the box and it will just be another thing to go wrong if it's going to happen, plus you have to find somewhere to put it although some like the decoration. The new 8360 has the same clean tach output like the box and also has a built in rev limiter.

Re: MSD ignition question

Thanks Steiner! I will save the 6AL for the next project.

Re: MSD ignition question

No problem. Does the 8360 have a gray wire coming off it separate from the three wire connector? I know someone who just bought one a few weeks ago but received one of the old ones without the gray tach wire.
