Timing moving at idle

383 stroker...
Timming moving at idle.
Set at 34* at 3000rpm....(14* initial)
Vacuumn advance hooked up.
Timming at idle creeps to about 30*...rap throttle, settles back, then creeps back to 30* at idle.

Is vacuumn can bad?
Runs great but do not understand "idle creep" to 30*.
Thanks for help.

Re: Timming moving at idle

For starters, plug the vacuum advance and see what it does.

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Re: Timming moving at idle

If your vacuum advance is hooked up to full manifold vacuum that's what it's going to do. Hope you set your total mechanical advance with the vacuum can disconnected and the manifold or carb port plugged.

If you do not have enough idle vacuum to pull the can in all the way it will dither in and out as well.
