Question '68 heads - sender hole thread size?

What size NPT is the hole in a '68 cylinder head? I need to plug the hole and want to run to Lowes for a plug. I know it's a lot larger than in later heads.
Thanks!

1/2?
It looks more like 3/4" or larger. The sender I took out of the old head was bigger than 1/2" and it's too small.
No biggy.... I'll just get a couple different size plugs and see which one fits.

Joe pipe/hose is measured on the ID, so the out side is tube is on the OD, but the fitting
is normaly in a pipe fitting.

NPT is National Pipe Thread, not a machine thread; a 1/2" NPT plug is about 7/8" on the O.D. of the threads.

Re: '68 heads - sender hole thread size?

Thanks John... I said NPT because I thought that's what the hole is. I took a handful of plugs and kept jamming 'em in there until one threaded. I guess it is machine threads now that I look at it. I didn't measure it... I was just happy there's no more hole in the side of the head.
Long weekend...

All the sender and plug holes in the head are NPT, tapered pipe threads; there's no such thing as a sender or plug with machine threads.
