67 SBC 350 Oil Filter adapter question

Putting my 67 350 back together. Does it matter which way the oil filter adapter goes back on? Looks like it can go 180 degrees around and still bolt up.

Thanks!

Re: 67 SBC 350 Oil Filter adapter question

The concave part should be down if I remember correctly...
One piece of advise: when you screw the center stud in (that recieves the new style filter) don't turn it all the way in. You want to have a solid 2 turns on the new style filter and if you turn the stud all the way in, that won't happen. Use the loctite provided.

Re: 67 SBC 350 Oil Filter adapter question

1967 was the last year for the old canister oil filter. The adapter has a built in bypass valve and it doesn’t matter what position the bypass valve is installed.

I drove it for the first time in 1972 when I was 15.

Better looking than a '56 Ford or Plymouth.
