Edelbrock Intake Carb & Cowl Induction

I have a 69 with a 350, Edelbrock Perfomer RPM Intake, Edelbrock 1406 Carb, HEI distributor and cowl induction air cleaner. Clearance does not look to be an issue with the hood. The problem I am having is finding a spacer/adapter for the air cleaner to the carb that will clear the HEI. Any ideas or suggestions?

I think your best option is to get a non-HEI dist., there are offset air cleaners to clear HEI but then you won't have a cowl Air Cleaner. I don't know of anything to put between the carb the AC to give you clearance, and if there was the cowl AC may not fit under the hood

I don't know what the height of the Edelbrock carb is but do you just need a spacer to lift the bottom of the air cleaner itself off the carb? I've got a couple air cleaner spacers from mrmanifold on ebay.

Or if you know how much you need to move it up you can get the appropriate height carb spacer.

I'm with the person above though....With the size of the cowl assembly I don't know if it's possible to raise it to clear an HEI and still fit the hood correctly.

Re: Edelbrock Intake Carb & Cowl Induction

I installed cowl induction on my 69 over the winter and ended up replacing my HEI with an MSD 8361 distributor in order to get the air cleaner to fit.

what kind of spacer did you use to get the proper fit for the air cleaner to fit on the carb? Remember, mine is an Edelbrock carb. Thanks!!!
