Storage start-up,Zinc 4 oil?

Hello everyone, my 67 camaro with 6 cylinder has been sitting stored for 15 plus years and not touched. When I get the engine running I heard todays oil is not compatible with the bearings due to zinc content and bearing failure will result . How true is this and what is the cure. Thanks in advance as I know I need alot of things to check before startup

Zinc levels have been reduced but the cam in your 6 cylinder does not have enough lift to damage a lobe or lifter.

High spring pressures and reduced zinc can cause failure of cam lobes and lifters.

You don't have to worry about that.

Like Bethanne said, a good broken-in motor doesn't need lots of high-pressure additives, especially your good old straight six. If you were doing a fresh start on a flat tappet race motor, that's another story. But you will be A-OK with any oil.

Good luck and keep your 6-cylinder a 6-cylinder if you can!

Thanks for the reply, Can't wait to get the car up and running. The car is in good shape as only has 58,000 miles.
