HOLLEY 4053 Carb

Have the original 4053 list carb for my 68Z. It has two broken ears on the baseplate. What other base plates from which carbs will fit this 780 cfm carb?

Re: HOLLEY 4053 Carb

Do you want it to just be functional, or look correct? An early thin base 3310 should work (I have one here somewhere, will check) but I think the vacuum ports are not in the correct 4053 location. I'd suggest contacting Eric at Vintage Muscle Car Parts, he'll know exactly what looks right, and may be able to help you find one.

Re: HOLLEY 4053 Carb

I think the 4346 would work, it's also a vac sec 780 w/divorced choke. The only real difference I know of is the 4053 vent on the primary bowl.

Both 4053 and 4346 are still produced for over the counter at parts stores, you should be able to buy a new baseplate...

Have not had any luck so far locating a source. Any ideas?

Those, and service replacements from the early 1970's onwards, have the thicker style of baseplate, but would be a good solution if the OP is not concerned over keeping original appearance.
