ZZ4 350 - which MSD distributor/box set-up to use?

Hey guys -
I've officially given up on the stock HEI as I keep nuking the ignition module. So, it's time to upgrade. I'm think MSD. Anyone have experience with a particular model # in this application? WIth 6AL box? Any other advice from folks who have been through this?

Thx,
Nick

Don't need the box. Go with an MSD 8360 and Blaster Coil and you'll be good to go.

maybe figure out why the modules keep blowing before spending a lot of money on something that isn't any better and adds a ton of clutter.
using the heat conducting goop under the module?
distributor body getting a good ground?
using the good GM modules?

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

I kept the same dizzy and just upgraded to MSD cap rotor and Coil due to the dizzy having to have a melonized gear on the ZZ4. Never had any issues. But I don't think the dizzy is the issue. I would check power going to the HEI coil along with the ground coming off your wire harness.

You better read about how MSD has gone down hill. Not much quality control these days besides metal that rusts. Made in China?

Biggest reason HEI modules fail is the coil in cap coil layer shorting, and/or the carbon brush installed incorrectly.

I eliminated my 6AL box and went with the Pertronix Ignitor III with integrated rev limiter and matching coil

Really nice piece

Re: ZZ4 350 - which MSD distributor/box set-up to use?

If you want to use a box with the distributor get the MSD 6AL, part #6425 and the MSD Pro-Billet Street Distributor #8361. MSD recommends the Blaster 2 coil to use with the 6AL box. If you have had any milling done to your intake manifold you can use MSD #85561 with an adjustable slip collar.
