Ok went to the track yesterday and not happy with my results.

Here is the motor.

540 BBC
Dart block
Eagle rotating assembly
10.3 compression ( as I still drive this on the street a little)
AFR 357 magnum heads fully cnc
Comp Cam .714 lift, 112 centerline, 262 intake 270 ex. @50
Sniper Jr. intake.
1050 dominator.

69 Camaro with turbo 400 foot braking
car with me in it 3650lb

going 10.60's @ 128mph ( feels like a pig leavin)

I don't think that lobe sep is a good one for a N/A setup. Do you know where the intake centerline is?

Aside from hard parts, how is the timing? When does all the timing come in? How is the jetting/AFR?

The 357 AFR's are pretty big heads...may be hurting your leaving.

They have big intake ports so your velocity is going to be down, they need to rpm, again just throwing it out there.

What rpm are you leaving?

'69 camaro, was orig SS 396 car.
original tranny & 12 bolt

Now:
568 ci, Merlin Pro block
Callies crank, Oliver rods
AFR CNC 325, Nash 5 speed, 9'' Ford 35 spline locker
F1 Procharger that will get on soon...

Re: Need help with motor build "very disappionted with results

Way to much head for engine and way to big a camshaft. I just took 15 degree of intake duration and 30 degrees of exhaust duration out of an engine and made more HP with a hyd roller over a solid.

You need to back the camshaft way down. Those heads don't need anything that big. On street strip 540's I put AFR305 on them. The cam is WAY to big.

Re: Need help with motor build "very disappionted with results

Yeah, something in the high 280's advertised duration on that compression would probably feel like you put a blower on it at the low/midrange huh Chris? Still a lotta carb and a lotta head for that bottom end.
