Chambered Exhaust Installation Issues

I am having some trouble installing the chambered exhaust on my 69. I have the hangers that came with HBC kit Camaro Chambered Exhaust Hanger Kit (EGP-1965)
For some reason the rear hangers off the floor plan are not even close to the exhaust. Do I have something mixed up? Can't figure it out and have tried several different things so far. I checked out a 69 Z/28 on line, it's a Nickey car, and it does not use the rear hangers at all, only the ones off of the rear frame rails. Just curious what it is I am doing wrong or not doing right. Also the exhaust connection have all been welded so I have no adjustment, except there where the main tubes connect to the rear resonators.

The exhaust seems very close to the drive shaft to me. However it does not look that far off from cars that I have seen on line.

Re: Chambered Exhaust Installation Issues

Here are some pics I looked up on the internet. It looks like the pick up points are much higher and that the hanger seems to get really twisted. I tried that method originally and it just seemed wrong. Also the tab for the clamp to connect to, seems to be facing the opposite direction. Not sure if these example are correct, but I would like to get mine mounted correct.

Re: Chambered Exhaust Installation Issues

False alarm. I figured out what the problem is. I am using exhaust hanger kit EGP 1978

but should be using EGP 1965. That would explain the problem. Doh!

Re: Chambered Exhaust Installation Issues

Is it me or do the rear frame rail hangers look different on both kits. They are similar, but I want to make sure that I get the right hangers. At first I thought they were the same. Might just be the angle or the photo.

Re: Chambered Exhaust Installation Issues

Here are the 2 different hanger kits I was referring to. The one on the left is the correct chambered exhaust hanger kit and the one on the right is the hanger kit for dual exhaust and or transverse exhaust.

The drivers side rear frame rail mount needed some slight modification to fit correctly. Also note that these kits are not complete. When you order the hangar kit it only comes with the hangers. No nuts and bolts and fasteners. You have to order those separately.

Here is how the mount came in the kit. It required some bending and reshaping and one of the holes needed to be drilled out. Not sure why it comes like that, with one small hole and one larger one, with no fastening hardware. I supplied my own bolts to compress the rear frame rail mounts. When you order the mounting bolt kit it gives you bolts to mount the brackets to the rear frame rails, and bolts to attach the rear floor pan hangers.

Here is the bracket after the slight mods.

Here is the bracket installed.
