Rear Main Seal Leak

My 68, 327 with headers, Camaro has a small rear main seal leak. Is this a hard fix? Does motor have to be pulled?

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

Richard , this job can be done with engine in the car. The topic has been discussed here many times, here is a recent link of some of the guys doing the job and posting comments.

If you have other questions still, just ask, someone will chime in.

Re: Rear Main Seal Leak

Most leaks that appear to be from the rear main seal are actually higher up,..rear of the valve covers, rear of the intake, distributor gasket, oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, etc.

All the above will eventually drip from the bottom of the engine and/or bellhousing.

Do this,..purchase the dye kit and make sure you're chasing the correct leak.

Good luck!
