big block valve covers

a few qusetions about the factory style covers. the ones sold for power brakes that have the slant, isnt that for covettes power brake booster to clear? on camaro's isnt the booster mover along side the cover then behind? if this is correct i wouldnt need the slant...? im going to be making the big block i have look somewhat close to a factory 396. i dont have to be exactly correct just close. are all reproduction covers the same or are some places better then others? how does the new chrome hold up on these? thanks for any help on this subject.

Re: big block valve covers

Most reproduction chrome valve covers (that were used only on the 375 horse motor) do not have the oil drippers under the cover. You need those drippers if you are using the factory stamped rocker arm and ball. They not only supply oil but cool the springs and valve train parts. It would be better to find a painted set of stock valve covers off of a 454 truck and have them polished up and then hard chromed. (the 350 horse may have had chromed covers also, I just can't remember anymore).

I bought these and they have the oil drippers. I'm running the stock long-slot rocker arms.
To pay to chrome anything these days costs a fortune.
