need resonator advice

Hey all,

I've got a 430HP 383 with headers and dual flowmaster super 44 mufflers.

It is a louder than I really wanted as I drive my car a lot. I could of course replace the mufflers but was wondering about adding resonators to help deaden and deepen the sound.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks

I would suggest you replace those mufflers. I had the same problem. I went with the Dynomax Ultra Pro welded. I do like Flowmaster though, just NOT the 44's.

Re: need resonator advice

Randy don't waste you time with resonators they are useless. This is the primary reason why I hate flowmasters . They are too loud and attract the boys in blue. I have the Dynomax super turbo,s on my 70 and love them. I have the short version because that fit just right . They also have a Hemi Road Runner longer version that's also nice . They are not whisper quiet . Go onto their website you can hear them , of course the noise level also depends on the cam headers etc . Alex

Re: need resonator advice

If ground clearance is an issue, dynomax makes a behind-the-axle turbo muffler system that flows well.

2-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing with an H pipe for $250.

I bought an "american thunder" system from Flowmaster and I think I will sell it and go with this behind my BBC. I haven't installed the Flowmaster system and I got it really cheap. So I should get my money back.

Re: need resonator advice

I am using the 17104 Flowmaster kit with their 8200 series behind the axle transverse muffler. I ended up using two 3" Dynomax bullets under the rear seat floor as a resonator.
I can hear my phone ring now. Nice super stock sound.
