Intake/Carb height?

I have a stock Rochester intake and quadrajet. On a previous thread a lot of people convinced me to stick with the qjet. I would, however, like to switch the intake out. I have the original stock air cleaner. The black one with a chrome top and 350/300 sticker.
If I switch to the Edelbrock eps or rpm spread bore intake will I still be able to use my air cleaner under the stock ss hood? I really like the look of the old air cleaner so I hope it will fit.

Re: Intake/Carb height?

I think so. I have run my similar 275hp original air cleaner with the QJ and a 1" spacer on an Edelbrock performer with no trouble. I have the original flat hood.

To determine how much room you have to work with pile a handfull of play-doh on top of the air cleaner and close the hood.

Re: Intake/Carb height?

Are the Edelbrock eps and stock intake same height? I'll try the play dough trick.
