How is that going to seal against the hood ?

Re: air cleaner cold air base

I imagine the high intake thrusts the entire air cleaner into the hump of the aftermarket and I expect fiberglass cowl hood and the rubber gasket base shown seals against the hood. Looks clean but I have never seen it in the wild. Where did the picture come from?

I wonder if that is a cake pan base. A google search will turn up several posts about them including some here on Team Camaro.

Re: air cleaner cold air base

The air cleaner base you picture seems to be almost flat, but other than that .. the air cleaner seems to function similarly to an L88 Corvette, where the air cleaner protrudes into the air duct in the elevated portion of the hood... ie.

L88 air cleaner bases are available... you might check with the companies that sell those and see if they have a similar 'flat' base? and if they don't, it would seem fairly simple to make your own..

Re: air cleaner cold air base

The picture came from a car for sale on RK motors out of Charlotte. If you haven't checked out their site before, you should. They have a lot of high dollar cars for sale. Good place to get ideas as each car has a ton of pics. I have seen this style base on several cars. The concept is the base seals against the hood and the air cleaner is up in the opening drawing in air through the cowl. I like it because it's clean looking and functional. Nothing too dramatic. Actually found one by spectre last night but they want too much for it. I could make my own no problem but wanted to see if there was something on the market that was good for the price.
