Edelbrock Performer RPM with Cowl Induction Hood

I would like to use an Edelbrock Performer RPM 2-0 intake with my 1969 Big Block Cowl induction Hood Setup. Anyone else used this manifold with factory air cleaner? Will I need to modify or purchase a drop base air cleaner for it to work? The carb pad height is 5.22". All responses will be greatly appreciated.

James, you'll find through a quick search in the engine section that this topic has been discussed a lot. Yes, you'll require a drop base ...

Cheers

That's the same combo that I have on my car. No problems with 3310 carb and factory cowl air cleaner.

A Schab, I need to order manifold because engine will be ready for run in soon. Are you using this manifold? see link: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-7161

I'm using a Performer RPM with a Holley 4150 and an SS hood. Dropped base of course.

Re: Edelbrock Performer RPM with Cowl Induction Hood

I'm a bit confused about drop base air cleaner assemblies. Where can I buy one?? Do they maintain the same appearance as original cowl air cleaner assembly?

A Schab, can you share a picture of your engine with Edelbrock RPM setup? are you using the stock air cleaner setup with seal on top?

Thanks in advance for your responses

Re: Edelbrock Performer RPM with Cowl Induction Hood

James, exact same size and shape as OEM but with much better air flow as the lower you go on the base the more restricted the flow.

James, Check out Summit Racing they have this 1" dropped base air cleaner or you can get a 1.5 dropped base air cleaner without the Chevrolet logo. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/na...2080/overview/ The 1.5 drop http://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-4915/overview/

Re: Edelbrock Performer RPM with Cowl Induction Hood

Thanks for all replies and pictures but I would prefer to use factory air cleaner. Anyone know if it will work with Performer RPM??
