I just bought a Mallory unilite distributor (used) that's supposed to work with any chevy v8 from the beggining of time til today. It's not a vaccum advance, I guess it advances based on something else. What I don't understand is how that works with the ECM. Does the ECM get a return signal from the stock distributor that let's it know how much it advanced or is there just a signal sent to the distributor? I would guess that there is just a signal sent to the distributor so putting in one that does it own advancing wouldn't interfer with the ECM's calculations. I like the fuel injection and don't want to put on a carb but I also don't want this distributor to mess anything up.

Also, does anyone know how to check out the module for this type of distributor. I wanna make sure it works before I put it in. Any info would be appreciated.

I think you should visit the Mallory website: Mallory Ignition and try to match the numbers on the unilite to their catalog product description. This way you can tell if the unit was made to work on your motor, plus there are instructions for hookup on the site and diagnostic info as well.

Good Luck!
