Melonized dist. gear?

Does the MSD #8360 distributor come with a melonized gear already installed?

I've had no problems yet if it didn't. No metal in the oil and no oil usage.

Mine did. I later switched to a billet roller cam from UD Harold and put a GM gear on the 8360, just for safety. The cam had a Everwear press-on gear so maybe it was not necessary.

Re: Melonized dist. gear?

Mine came with a regular iron gear and I believe that is the usual configuration. If you have a billet cam you should probably make sure unless your cam manufacturer says it is OK.

Re: Melonized dist. gear?

I've got 9500 miles on the motor now with no issues so I guess I'm ok.
