Cowl induction flapper

I replaced my SS hood with a cowl induction hood. It is non functioning at this time. I don't have the flapper and I am going to run an open element air filter. I have heard that engine smells can get in the car if a flapper isn't used. It is an ac car and dosent have ac right now but My fresh air vents are down low. Looking for opinions.

Re: Cowl induction flapper

I've had cowl hoods on all of my camaros without flappers and I've never smelled anything from under the hood when rolling down the highway. I currently have a 67 convertible with a cowl hood and air and I've never smell anything when running the air or rolling with the fresh air vents open and I am running an open air cleaner as well.

+1 - Totally agree. I have the same setup with no odors.

I don't see how a missing flapper could cause odors to get into the passenger compartment.

Re: Cowl induction flapper

Thanks guys. I don't need any more mini projects just trying to get this car back on the road. I guess I don't need no stinking flapper either.
