Blind Head Bolt Holes w/Pin Hole?
Getting my Etech 170 heads put on and had a question. The bulk of the head bolt holes go into the water jacket, and I'll be using Permatex 80632 for those bolts. There are a few holes across the top that appear blind, but they all have a pin hole in each one. I'm assuming that those holes go through to the water jacket as well, but not sure why they are there? ARP says that if the hole is blind and does not go into the water jacket, to use the ARP lube and torque accordingly, but if its not blind and goes into the water jacket, to use the Permatex. Would I treat these 'blind holes' with pin holes with the ARP lube or the Permatex?
