Question

I have an -69 Z-11 Camaro with an L-48 engine. The cast # on the block is 3970014 (4-bolt) and the datecode is 0707CRE is there, but there is no VIN # on the block. The intake (and carb.) is right 3927184, and the heads says 3947041 dated 1970. I have litle info. on the car, but could this be a replasement engine ? (longblock ). I bought the car on internet from a women in Bakerfield CA. Anyway what is the right cast # for a -69 L-48 block ? My car is produced in Mars week 2(03B) (Sorry for my bad english I live in Norway, EU)

Looks like somebody put a different block in it b/c why would it not have a VIN??

It's not right above the middle of the water pump area on a small boss there is it??

Did you look down by the oil filter location on the side of it's casting??

Didn't the '69 cars continue to be sold past Jan., '70 b/c of a strike or something that delayed the production of the new bodied '70 Camaros or something like that well into '70 and a half??

Post your actual VIN in the "Tag Team" section and from it hopefully somebody can nail down the build date and just maybe you do have a '70 car so thye block may be numbers matching but still not the original one b/c of the lack of a VIN stamped on it...

An 03B SS350 would have an HA or HB coded engine most likely dated late February or early March.

The engine is not original to this car.

I know that the engine is not orginal, but I thougt that it could be a replacement block.(it is no VIN stamp on it!)
Then what is the right blockcast# on an early -69 350cid 300HP L-48 ? 010,388 or 386
