Exhaust sounds

If there is another thread already like this then admin please delete.

I got to thinking the other day that when I was working on which exhaust system I wanted to put on my car I wished there was a thread or website I could have gone to and listened to some different sound clips.. Maybe we can do this here and make it a sticky?

List your engine size, cam, exhaust size, x-pipe, h-pipe or n/a, muffler brand, muffler type and/or part # and where the exhaust exits the car and a video clip.

396 BBC
Comp Cams Magnum H292
2.5"
x-pipe
Pypes
Crossflow - MVR100
exits in stock location

Re: Exhaust sounds

Want a good sound out of a Chevy?
Chevys by nature.. timing sequence etc.. sound good naturally....dodges ok, fords, well need a lot tinkering.
Just do not use stainless.
Use heavy walled pipe
Run a balance pipe.
Throw in a couple elcheapo mufflers... far too much is made of mufflers and quality of sound.. very much a marketing propaganda BS thing... again.
Then re tune the idle timing and mixture circuits to suit.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative

Re: Exhaust sounds

Dynamax here, procharged 496 3" dumps behind the tires like stock. I really like the sound, it is mellow until you step on it.

How loud is your system ?

Here is what I'm using : 2-1/2" mandrel-bent system that is basically just like the stock system :

Re: Exhaust sounds

Here's a recommendation I've never seen on this board so far... I use Moroso Spiraflows. They have a great rumble at idle but not annoying loud for the street... When you step on it look out...

383
234 degrees duration, 110 deg lobe separation
H-pipe, 2,5"
Turn downs after mufflers and before rear axle

Will try to get a clip.

1969 Camaro 383
2.02/1.63 & 234/244 Vortec
TH350 / 12 bolt 3.73

Lawrence--are you using that system with headers? does the exhaust dump out behind the rear wheels or under the rear end?

The pic of the system appears that the tailpipes exit at the rear like a 69. My headers are hedman elites with 1-3/4" primaries (BBC).

That system is on backorder and should be available late this month. http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/89021/10002/-1
