Fuel hoses:

1) Would anyone happen to know the sizes of the rubber fuel hoses going to the fuel pump from the metal hardlines? Both supply and return. This is for small block.

2) Do these hoses usually deteriorate and eventually need replacement? i've only seen one instance of one (supply line) leak.

The only reason i'm replacing mine is because i've swapped in a 4.3 v-6---which means the fuel pump is farther back and the v-8 lines won't reach it.

3) Can you recommend a good brand?

Re: Fuel hoses:

Year and original engine size might be helpful Puff. The 1969 L48 Rochester Quadrajet SS350's had dual fuel lines 3/8 and 1/4 rubber.

They have been known to dry rot but actually due to them being fuel grade tend to be long lasting. But you can damage them with tools etc working around them.

These are widely available in replacement kits, at bit pricy but easy at the regular big Camaro places on-line. And it sounds like the original config won't work with your mods.

Fuel lines are available by the foot off the spool at your local Auto parts stores, and on-line at RockAuto.com - use your TC discount code.

Re: Fuel hoses:

The hard line for a small block is usually 5/16 unless someone has changed it to 3/8. The rubber hose is not something you would change once a year. You have to ask the auto parts store you deal with what brand they carry.

Re: Fuel hoses:

Puff states he has an original V8 SB vehicle dual lines which would have 3/8 lines from the factory. Factory straight 6 - L6 engines were all single 5/16 size lines. Low performance v8's used one 5/16 line with dual-jet carbs. He is swapping from small block v8 to small block v6 and trying to reuse the original lines and return if I read Puffs post right.

Since you seem to have two lines Puff we assume the factory v8 was L48, and not a low performance 307/327 with single line and dual jet carb. Rubber part number was 3747662 for pump to line, and part number 3828882 for rail to tank, and clamps 3786276 according to the AIM page 123.

So you are looking for 3/8th rubber connection from sender to fuel line at the rear rail, and the same from rail to pump, then rubber 1/4 from fuel filter return to line then line to rubber to frame, and at the rear 1/4 to sender from frame rail line. The duals were used in 69 on 350/255-300hp & 396/325-350hp, now sold as a "Fuel & Vapor Hose Kit" Red and green original style clips at ricks Part #: 38HCB $10.99. The metal lines from pump to carb which may or may not work your engine mods http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-o...1967-1992.html

Depending on what carb is on your V6 you will have to plum accordingly to make your connections.

Gates Rubber
Goodyear

Might consider using fuel injection hose as it is alittle better made.
