I bought this car 3 years ago as basically a shell. It had a non running 350 from what I was told. Did the usual work and got it running and driving. A few weeks later the motor lost cyl 5/7. Ugg. So I tore into it and discovered that it was only a 305. Well I yard that turd out and do a quick 350 swap I had picked up off CL. Drove it for about a season and noticed it was starting to oil pressure issues. Just my luck... found that the block was cracked and coolant was filling the oil pan. Due to a lack of funds I parked the car since last July and started looking into a brand new motor. It took a little while to settle on something and a little convincing of the wife. In April I was finally able to order a brand new 383. It took a long 2 months of waiting but it finally arrived on Monday.
We all know that I can't post that and then not post some specs. 383 stroker, aluminum heads with 200cc runners, 2.02/1.60 stainless valves, Scat 9000™ Series Crank, forged pistons, 6 inch rods, 10.5-1 compression,VALVE LIFT WITH 1.5 ROCKERS : INT .530 / EXT .545

The firstt dyno pull it was 462hp with 468 lb/ft. The finial pull was 480hp with 474 lb/ft. The company said it ran very strong and compared to other dyno's their numbers are usually 20 hp below others. So the motor may in fact be 500 hp. I'll be installing it this weekend hopefully all goes well.
