Question

Can someone tell me if both engine frame mounts for a 302-350 smallblock are the same height. I read on this sight that for a big block the drivers side frame mount is about 1/2 taller. The problem, if it is a problem, is that the frame mounts I have the taller one is on the passenger side. Can someone set me straight?

Thanks.....RS/Z28

Small-block L & R pairs are the same height; you can not mix styles. All sb 1967-68 & 1969 307 & 327 use the same bracket originally designed for the non-interlocking motor mount. For the 302 & 350 in 1969 only Chevy used the new interlocking motor mount which required a redesigned frame bracket. This bracket is shorter and narrower than the 67-68 style. If you don't have bb mounts you may have a LH 69 and a RH 67-68. They usually have a partial part number stamped on them.

And don't mix motor mounts. The 67-68 mount is a sloppy fit on the 69 bracket. It will seem to fit but cause a number of problems. If you have the 302-350 1969 brackets be sure to get the correct mount.

I run a Powermaster myself and love it. It cost about $200 though. You have to tell them what flywheel you run. I have a 168 tooth. The exact name is the Powermaster XS or something like that. It is supposed to turn over a 17:1 compression.

I cant say for sure which side should be higher, but I'm pretty sure that certain small blk frame mounts have different heights side to side. The repro mounts I ordered are 1/2" different height from left to right but I may have mixed them up so I cant say for sure which side is which.

If you look in some catalogs, you will see that there is one part # for both rh/lh sides of 69 302 and 350 sm blk Camaros.
The mount listed for 1967 283, 1967-68 302, 1969 307, 1967-69 327, and 1967-68 350 Camaros have different part #s for the lh and rh side.
