does anyone know if the Super 40 mufflers are louder or mellower than the 40 delta series mufflers...you think these are too loud for a daily driver...should i then go with the 50 delta series mufflers?

camp07, I put super 40s on the 69 and couldn't be happier with them, I can drive 55 with the window rolled down and still hear the radio without it on the deaf setting...

i believe the 4 series is the loudest "street" muffler they sell- but the delta's are a bit mellower under light throttle conditions but just as loud when the fun pedal is pushed down.

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

Sorry, I didn't really answer your question...I have never owned a set of Delta 40s to compare, but seems like most people I talk to say that the super 40s are not as loud as the deltas, Not as much reasonce inside the car...Hope this helps...Mike

tough question, cause I'll bet few have run both to compare directly, and everyone's definition of loud is different.

I have delta 40's, and they are loud.

I have Delta 40s on my 454 and they SUCK!!! I can't hear my radio with the windows up or down when cruising. To top it off they resonate like a bear. BUT... they sound awesome when my foot is in the floorboards and the tires are melting . Seriously though, I'm getting old and they are loud, even though I'm half deaf. They are way loud new, I can't imagine them with 20 or 30 thousand miles on them.

They should sound the same unless they wind up with a big ole rusty hole somewhere. Oh maybe you were talking about your hearing 30k miles from now.

I have delta flow 40's on the '69 (350ci) and like them, a friend has them on his 396 Chevelle and they are way louder. I can run with his 396 so it must be a sbc/bbc thing versus h.p. As discussed many times it seems to depend on the engine and or opinion of the listener.

I am under the impression that the Super 40's are louder. Check on the Flowmaster site, they have comparison charts on each muffler.

but that is the problem because sinse the super 40s are pretty new...they dont have the performane/noise chart for them. BUT MAINLY i know i will need 2.50 in/out pipes and really want either the super 40s OR the 50 series delta flow (not too sure about the 40 series deltas). Knowing these requirments...i need a FULL COMPLETE exhaust system and i dont know if Flowmaster has one...anyone else know????? thanks again guys!

I had them put on this morning I have to say I like them.At cruise speed there is not much difference than the cheap turbos that were on it.My 60mph. rpms are 2500.Idle sounds awsome there is a resonance (sp?) at 2000 rpms about 45 mph but not bad.I do not have headers using factory exhaust manifolds.I am comparing the noise levels with the windows up and down. When you stand on it there is a huge difference maybe even runs faster.
