I have had problems with my 69 z/28 dz 302! I had a guy who has been building race motors for 30 + yrs. set the timing, new points/condensor, adj. the valves and rebuild the carb. After all this i think the car actually runs worse!! He also took off the intake and replaced gaskets and resealed to make sure no leaking. Can't get a reliable idele?/ Its either at 2500 or won't idel at all? Just this week end put a new holley 4777 on it just to make sure it wasn't in the carb? Is more responsive but still no reliable idel. Also doesn't seem like i have any kind of power that this engine should have?? Barley barks the tires in 1st. let alone the rest of the gears?? any suggestions on what to try next?? How about someone telling me what the correct timing and valve clearance should be to make sure if have this at least right?

I have run out of ideas??

High Idle should mean vacuum leak which would mean low power too. Valves should be set .030 hot & running.
