Would it be wise to have 2 sets of bearing when mocking up 383 for clearance.one for mockup and one for finale ***.?Also,do I mockup with rings installed on pistons.This is my first build. thanks.

Wouldn't hurt to have two sets of bearings. Otherwise, use plenty of assembly lube when turning. No, rings are not a requirement.

Hodge,
Its hard to keep every bit of dirt from getting in the bearings. Run down to your machine shop and see if they have an old set they can give you for mock up. You really only need a front and a rear. We have found that grease works better at keeping the grit out from grinding as compared to oil.
