Has anyone done any performance upgrades to the GMPP 454HO BB motor. I am looking at a maybe a better cam, Edelbrock air gap performer rpm, and maybe something with the heads: swap to oval ports maybe with smaller combustion chambers. Any thoughts....

thanks,tom

Doesn't the ZZ454 have the oval heads and a more aggressive cam? Why not use those parts.

HOT ROD Magazine has run several articles recently on upgrading the ZZ454 which is identical to the 454HO only with aluminum heads. You should check their web site for the articles. They kept it real until they recenlty added a big ol' mountian of a blower to it. Prior to that test, they had it up over 520HP with simple bolt ons that anyone would consider for street use.

My bad!
I thought the ZZ454 had the same cam profile as the ZZ502.
